It’s all about
results... |
|
Below are some
examples of how an individual diet has helped elite
athletes.
|
TOM MAY, Newcastle
Falcons RFC Tom found that he was struggling
to recover after games. The quality of his training
during the week was impaired because he was stiff, sore
and tired for 4-5 days after a match. Tom used to follow a high protein
diet. We analysed his nutritional needs and found
that his body was suited to a
higher carbohydrate diet. When he began
to follow his personal sports nutrition plan, Tom found that
his recovery time reduced, and that he was able
to engage in high quality training within a couple
of days following his games. He also found that
his body fat levels reduced and his overall energy increased.

CHRIS COOK, GB Swimmer
& Commonwealth Champion Chris found that
he was often tired when he followed the high carbohydrate diet that he
thought was ideal for an athlete. Following his
analysis, we discovered that Chris was more
suited to a diet that was
higher in proteins and fats. As he started eating according
to his personal plan, Chris began to train at
a higher intensity and found that his recovery between
sessions increased. Consequently, he is able to do high
quality strength work alongside his intense training in the pool. |

GRAEME MURTY, Captain,
Reading FC Graeme wanted to give himself an
extra advantage by focussing on his nutrition. We
conducted an assessment to find Graeme’s individual
nutritional needs, and constructed a personal
nutritional plan for him. As a result of following his
plan, Graeme has found that his performances in training
and games have increased, allowing him to maintain high
intensity work for longer. His body fats have also
dropped 7.4mm of body fat in a 10 week period. |

|
PAUL JONES, Triathlon As a
tri-athlete, Paul has an incredibly demanding training
programme. He wanted to optimise his nutrition to be
able to get more from his training, to recover more
quickly between sessions and to achieve more quality in
his sessions. Paul found that he needed a very balanced
diet that included a wide variety of proteins,
carbohydrates and natural fats. He found that when he
achieved the balance that his body needed, he had more
energy and greater levels of recovery, which boosted the
quality of his training.

DAVE HEALY, Leeds United FC Dave
wanted to stabilise his body fat levels and increase his
energy for training, matches and life. He was eating a
diet that was dominated by sugars and starchy
carbohydrates such as pasta and bread. Following an
assessment, Dave reduced the amount of sugary sports
drinks and wheat based starchy foods that he ate. He
immediately found that he had better and more sustained
energy throughout the day, He also found that he felt
less bloated and could perform better on the field.
Within a few weeks of starting his personal nutritional
plan, Dave’s body fats also stabilised.

DAVE PEARSON, IRB International Board Rugby
Referee Dave had been struggling with energy
and controlling his body fat levels for a few years,
after being advised to follow a high protein diet.
Dave’s assessment revealed that his body needed a diet
that was higher in carbohydrate and light proteins. Dave
also needs a relatively high level of starch in his
diet. When he eats the diet that is right for his body,
he is able to manage his body fat levels easily and
maintain a high level of training. He also notices a
significant improvement in his level of concentration
during games.
